According to him, the approved bill will be sent to the National Assembly for its consideration and possible approval.
If approved by the lawmakers, the retirement age of teachers will move from 60 years to 65 while the years of service will also move from 35 to 40.
Recall that President Buhari had in June last year during the annual World Teachers Day celebration announced some far reaching policy adjustment to enhance the service condition of teachers in the country.
He said some highlights of the bill include the introduction of bursary award, special rural posting allowances and other measures to attract the best brains to the profession.
He said: “This memo that was approved for education is a giant step towards what we set out to do towards the end of last year with the approval by Mr President of some special packages for teachers. So, at the meeting today, the council approved that bill which will be called Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers in Nigeria Bill, 2021 to be sent to the National Assembly for enactment into law. So, all the promises the President made and all the approvals that he has given me will now begin to put into effect because this is a legal backing that is required for it.
“I want to assure teachers that this government will do to them what has never been done. This is the first biggest step.
“The intention is to attract the best brains to the teaching profession. For that, the President approved the reintroduction of bursary awards which I told you here last year, improving teacher quality, and funding teaching practice from TETFUND.
“He approved an enhanced entry point for teachers. Then, he approved that there should be some special allowances that will allow teachers to be posted to places you can consider ‘hardship postings’, rural posting allowance, science teacher allowance, and, of course, we have Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) under us that has professionalized the profession.
The Ondo State Government has declared that the presidency is emotionally attached to Fulani herdsmen.
The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo was reacting to the statement by the Presidency against the directive of the State government banning the operation of unregistered Fulani herdsmen in its forest.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu had condemned the directive by the Ondo State government.
However, Ojogo insisted that Shehu’s comment was inimical to the existence of Nigeria.
Ojogo, in a statement, said Shehu had stated “unambiguously, the position of the Federal Government.
“The Ondo State Government did not ask Fulani to leave the state.
“The governor said herdsmen who are unregistered should leave our forests.
“The statement from Garba Shehu is brazen display of emotional attachments and it’s very inimical to the corporate existence of Nigeria.
“We need clearly defined actions on the part of the Federal Government to decimate the erroneous impression that the inspiration of these criminal elements masquerading as herdsmen is that of power.
“Our unity is threatened, no doubt.
“It (statement) states in a breath that the governor fights crime with passion while it is prevaricating on the atrocities.
“The question is, are the herdsmen who are perpetrating murder, kidnapping and robbery more important than government and even the Federal Government in this case?
“Ethnic nationality and activism on the part of anyone hiding under the Presidency or federal government is an ill wind.”

Tinubu’s media aide, Tunde Rahman in a statement on Monday, urged members of the public to disregard a statement making rounds on social media credited to his principal on the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election.
Rahman stated that his boss is not known to rush to issue statements and at the right time, Asiwaju will speak on the Edo governorship election.
He said: “Please disregard any post to the effect that His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has spoken on the Edo elections. The said statement is a fake one. It’s the antic of social media merchants of fake and unsubstantiated statements. It did not come from Asiwaju. Those who know Asiwaju would recall that it’s not in his character to rush to issue statements. At the appropriate time, His Excellency Asiwaju will speak on the Edo election. Thank you.”

According to The Sun UK, the 25-year-old had set off for work harvesting palm oil on the island of West Sulawesi, Indonesia, on Sunday night. But when he didn’t return home, concerned friends and relatives began looking for him the next evening. It was learnt that they found the python lying in Akbar’s back garden with a giant bulge in its stomach on Monday night. The locals gathered round as one man used an 18-inch long hunting knife to slice open the serpent – and claim to have found Akbar’s body inside.
Incredible footage shows the corpse being slowly removed from the killer reptile as the leathery skin is peeled away. While speaking with a correspondent, a neighbor identified as Satriawan who knew Akbar said: “He was found in the location of the garden. Initially, Akbar set out from his home to go to harvest palm, after not returning to his home people looked for him.’’
Local media reported that Akbar’s wife Munu was away at the time and only found out when pictures and videos emerged in the news, adding that they believed Akbar was attacked from behind. Village secretary, Salubiro Junaidi said: “People had heard cries from the palm grove the night before Akbar was found in the snake’s stomach.
“When the snake was captured, the boots Akbar was wearing were clearly visible in the stomach of the snake. Resident cut open the belly of the snake and Akbar was lifeless.”

It really is an exciting time to be a Chelsea fans right now. The club are in the hands of a Chelsea legend who is clearly being backed by the owners.
Frank Lampard is looking to build a real generational era at Chelsea, something we have struggled to have any consistency with over recent years.null
But to do this, Lampard knows he needs squad reinforcements, and it looks like he is fully getting them.
Having already signed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner at the request of Lampard, the Chelsea board are about to deliver three more of his choices in a major triple coup.
This is according to the reliable Sky Italy reporter, Angelo Mangiante.
He tweeted over night that Chelsea are now ‘ready to complete’ the signings of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, and Thiago Silva on a free transfer, ‘early next week.’
Celebrities have always had to deal with lots of critics, rumors and many distractions, and aside there are advantages of being one.
While a few have said they prefer a quiet life, actress Elizabeth Anjorin, better known as Lizzy Anjorin said she had never wished for a quiet life. This, according to her, is because an eventful life is financially rewarding.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Anjorin said, “I have never wished for a quiet life, I love my life because my eventful life is making money for me. As active as I am, I’ll call you up when we are at loggerheads and also render help if the need arises. This has been one of my success secrets because I have a good heart. I don’t even mind been criticised online sometimes. You see, when you go to a market, there is a lot of noise but it won’t stop or affect buyers. Instead, noise brings attention and brings more sales.
To be sincere with you, my upbringing made me tough. I realise that if you are doing well in society you cannot be friends with people who are not doing well. Except a few that believe in God and also believe in themselves. I’m the wrong person to mess with and if you don’t disturb me I won’t bother you. I have never forgotten my roots. I remember when I hawked, lived in an uncompleted building and how my mother used rags to train me. When I was living in an uncompleted building I didn’t see it as poverty. I’m an Aries and have the qualities that an Aries possesses.’’
Speaking on some of the claims that had made the rounds about her new marriage, Anjorin explained that the pressure was not affecting her husband, Lawal. She said, “There is no pressure on my husband. Truthfully, the worst thing that anyone can do to a person has been done to me. Some people can’t survive what I have gone through. If my husband was a new person to me, there is a high tendency that he would have been tired. Thank God I married my best friend. Those ladies that have claimed that my husband is theirs have not reached out to us and none of them has brought the children to us. I have challenged them openly as well. All these people saying these things are only taking advantage of my husband because he is a nice man. Everyone should bring their child forward for a DNA test. We both had children before we got married but he was never married to anyone. My husband is not a small boy, moreover, my first daughter is older than his.
In the past, some people have said my mouth is too sharp, but shame on them. I’m a very playful person and a woman that every man would want to have. I’m very open with my husband and I love people. People judge from afar but at times, it is good to get close to people before you do that. Some ‘quiet ladies’ have dealt with their husband mercilessly but people like us can’t hurt anyone.”
Ben Goong, spokesman of the ministry of education, broke the news in a statement on Friday.
Goong said Oluwatoyin Ogundipe was also directed to recuse himself as vice-chancellor, adding that a panel has been set up to probe the crisis rocking UNILAG.
The panel chaired by Tukur Sa’ad, former vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, as chairman, has Victor Onuoha, Ikenna Oyindo, Grace Braide, Adamu Usman, and Jimoh Bankole as members. The federal government has directed Wale Babalakin, pro-chancellor and chairman, governing council of the University of Lagos, to recuse himself from official duties relating to the institution.

The panel chaired by Tukur Sa’ad, former vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, as chairman, has Victor Onuoha, Ikenna Oyindo, Grace Braide, Adamu Usman, and Jimoh Bankole as members.
The governing council had removed Ogundipe over alleged financial misappropriation and abuse of office.
But Ogundipe kicked against his removal, saying due process was not followed.
He had filed a lawsuit at the national industrial court to challenge his removal.
But on Friday, Ogundipe withdrew the suit which had as defendants: UNILAG, Babalakin, UNILAG senate; Oladejo Azeez, the institution’s registrar; and Theophilus Soyombo, the acting VC.
In a statement issued after the suit was withdrawn, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, Ogundipe’s counsel, said his client took the step after consulting stakeholders and supporters within and outside the institution.
Adegboruwa discredited claims that the court has commenced action on the ex-parte application.
“Contrary to the falsehood being peddled by mischief makers, the National Industrial Court has never sat or conduct any proceedings in respect of the court case filed by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oluwole Ogundipe,” the statement read.
“No court proceedings ever took place at all and so no decision or ruling has been rendered by the court. Indeed, upon detailed consultation with all stakeholders and his supporters in and outside the university, Prof Ogundipe directed his lawyers to file a notice of discontinuance of the suit and this has been done on August 21, 2020.
“This is to defer to the authority of the President as the Visitor of the university as Prof Ogundipe has enough time to challenge his purported removal. This falsehood is being spread to malign the court and blackmail the judiciary by enemies of the rule of law and due process.”
