Nigerian Army Dismisses Major General Hakeem Otiki with “Disgrace and Dishonour” for stealing

General Hakeem Otiki has been dismissed from Service by the General Court Martial.

The former General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General Hakeem Otiki has been dismissed from Service by the General Court Martial set up by the Military Council to try him for stealing money belonging to the Nigerian Army.

The General Court Martial headed by Lieutenant-General Lamidi Adeosun found the former GOC guilty on all the five counts charges filed against him and ordered that he should be sacked with “disgrace and dishonour”.

The former GOC was charged for stealing N100 million and N160 million, respectively money belonging to the Nigerian Army in count one and two and disobedience to Standing Order under section 66 of the Armed Forces Act(AFA).

Mr Otiki was the General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army 8 Division in Sokoto in July 2019 who authorised the transportation of a large sum of money that was reportedly stolen by five soldiers who conveyed the cash.

During his tral on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the tribunal ordered he be demoted from major general to brigadier general and dismissed.

The court also ordered that all monies totalling N135.8 million, $6,600 recovered be returned to the coffers of the Nigerian Army.

In his final submission, Mr Otiki’s lead lawyer, Israel Olorundare, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, pleaded for clemency and urged the Nigerian Army to show mercy.

Mr Olorundare told the court that the accused officer had returned N100 million that was stolen by the soldiers detailed to escort the money to Kaduna, and that some of the projects for which N150 million was released to Mr Otiki were either completed or about to be completed.

Mr Olorundare told the court that the accused officer is the breadwinner of his family, adding that “a career built for 35 years is coming to an end on a very sad note.”

After the sentencing, the lawyer said the defence will make a representation to the appropriate convening authority to note that Mr Otiki did not steal the transported money, and that he was the one who reported the incident.

“Aside from this, he still sourced for the money and returned it to the authorities. So, there is really a need to take another look at the judgement,” the lawyer said.

I didn’t respond either. The first time I ever saw him was at a show at Bogobiri, he told me that he was going to be there and I said ‘sure’. He came and that was how we met. Over the years we were friends at first. When I first met him I just knew him as the king of Photoshop, I didn’t know he was also a musician”, she said.

“Now you’re part of a different family, I’m talking extended family now; so you have to be very conscious. You know your boyfriend’s mom is different from your husband’s mom, she’s now like your mom.

Things a boy finds out only after he gets hooked

Relationships can go two ways, good or bad. Everyone desires the good, but some end up with bad experiences. Generally, there is always a lesson learned from both.

Where guys are concerned, they often bite more than they can chew. This isn’t in any way as dramatic as ‘getting involved with a runs girl or an abusive woman’. Whereas, it’s as simple as ‘what he finds out after getting into a relationship.’ When you’re in a good relationship, you act differently; you think as part of a team, not as an individual anymore.

Humans are social beings who often thrive in solitude. They stay alone for so long, they have no clue what they are missing – or what they should miss – from being in a romantic relationship. Whatever the case may be, it’s a lot and we have a load down on everything.

Things a boy finds out only after he gets hooked

1. The fat word is an abomination

Men have learned the hard way never to tell a girl she is getting fat. Even saying words that are similar is a crime. Don’t ever say, “You are adding weight”, but it’s better to say nothing at all. If she asks you, “Am I getting fat?”, RUN! It’s a trap.

2. You actually need more stuff in your life

Before dating, men tend to think they are okay with their lives just the way it is. They don’t get eager to shop for ‘unnecessary’ stuff like, a lamp, new kitchen wares, and even a bed (don’t be surprised). Many bachelors think it’s cool to sleep on a mattress and what nots. But ladies in their lives open their eyes to things that actually makes his house a home.

3. Birthdays are important

Growing up gives you the misconception that celebrating birthdays are for wimps. Well, wait till you meet the right woman. She will make your birthday feel like the best day of the year – the only thing that can beat that is hers. You dare not forget her birthday, it’s a crime.

4. Be her friend first, before her lover

Ladies like being around their friends so they can do what they do best – talk. You don’t want to be that person she runs from when she wants a friend, because you can’t be that person for her. Having a girlfriend teaches you that you’re more that the lover. It takes that friendship to keep the relationship going, and the sexual tension and sex to keep it steaming. They both work hand in hand.

5. Zee World isn’t so bad

If she’s a fan of soap operas then it’s time to start getting used to it. Most men find themselves ‘caught up’ in a television show by ‘accident’. But who are we kidding, Telemundo and Zee World are for the cool kids.

6. The way you look matters

Just as you like having her look good by you, she reminds you that she wants that too. Having a girlfriend makes you put the extra effort in not looking like you were pulled through the mud and then thrown in trash before the pigs found you (not a pleasant description, yeah). Take note of the word here ‘girlfriend’, because when things get serious ‘like marriage’ it’s gone with the wind with putting too much effort in your appearance. What’s the deal with that?

7. Cooking is fun, too!

The kitchen may have seemed like that place for warming already made dishes, but soon you’ll realise what those pots are really used for – and it would be fun.

8. Show your feelings

There is one way to say, “I love you”, but many ways to show it. When you get a girlfriend, this is one thing you’ll learn. She stops wanting to hear it, and starts looking out for you to show it. You could call it the show and tell of love. Don’t hold back from those little gestures of love – she wants it and more.

9. Arguing sucks, but it works

An argument can either build or destroy a relationship. Whatever the outcome is, bottling things up is more harmful than good. If you don’t argue, you are walking on eggshells and it only makes it seem like you don’t really care. Imagine a colleague offends you, rather than raising the roof, you let it slide. That shouldn’t be the case in a relationship. Having a girlfriend teaches you that sometimes arguments build bridges.

10. “Your money, is our money”

When you get hooked into a relationship, everything you thought was yours, becomes ‘ours’. She expects you to become the gift that keeps giving. Even if she doesn’t need it, or rejects it, she wants you to offer it.

FG suspend aviation company that flew Naira Marley to Abuja for his drive-in concert

FG suspends aviation company that flew Naira Marley to Abuja for his drive-in concert (video)

The Federal Government has suspended Executive Jet services, the aviation company that owns the private jet used to fly Naira Marley from Lagos to Abuja for his drive-in concert on Saturday, June 13.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who announced this at the daily briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 today June 15, said the aviation company violated the Federal government’s approval.

According to him, an approval was given to the company to fly Justice Adefope Okoji from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos on an official assignment. However, they used the approval to fly in NairaMarley.

Well, we approved a flight but certainly not for any musician. The flight, from the application, was to convey Honourable Justice Adefope Okojie from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos for an official assignment.
“In this challenging time, in our wisdom, we considered the judiciary to be part of the essential service to be delivered. Having to move the Hon. Justice from Lagos to Abuja was in order. The approval was given for the 14th of June, 2020, however, we do give them a leeway of 24 hours sometimes due to operational reasons.

They can operate the flight slightly earlier or slightly forward within 24 hours. In this case, the operator choose to fly on the 13th at about 6:00 pm. So, that itself is not a violation to operate earlier because we gave him the leeway.

The operator is Executive Jets Services and the approval was very clear and I will read part of it. This is the letter from the ministry of Aviation to the Chairman of the Executive Jets Services and it was signed by the Director of Air Transport Management on my behalf.”

Announcing the sanctions on the company, Sirika said

“The operation is a clear violation of our approvals which we take seriously, it seems this is becoming a norm, it’s the second time.

Execujet services are hereby suspended indefinitely. We’ll also fine them maximally according to the law. The captain of the flight will be sanctioned for giving wrong information to the control tower”.

On Sunday, June 14, the Federal Capital Territory Administration sealed off Jabi Lake Mall on Sunday for two weeks over Naira Marley’s concert which violated the government’s ban on public gathering.

“I can give birth to a boy of your age, Your parent didn’t teach you how to respect elders

Zlatan Ibile has mocked actress Funke Akindele for telling him not to associate with fellow rapper Naira Marley.

The actress had thrown a house party during the coronavirus lockdown which made the Lagos State government arrest and charged her to court. Naira Marley was also arrested.

He wrote: “Funke Akindele said I should stay away from Naira Marley because of my brand. She f*ck with Naira Marley, they arrested her”.

Funke saw this and said;

“I can give birth to a boy of your age, Your parent didn’t teach you how to respect elders

Consider Suspending NYSC camps for 2years, Owinbajo committee tells FG

The Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged on the federal government to consider suspending the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp exercises for two years.

The committee in its report presented to President Muhammadu Buhari last week recommended the suspension of NYSC camps for 24 months.

“The immediate focus in the Education sector is to address the disruptions caused by the pandemic and ensuing social distancing measures at all levels of education,” the report read.

“Practical steps will be taken to minimise disruption to learning, utilising technology as appropriate. Specifically, virtual learning will be implemented (either online or through broadcast), virtual convocation ceremonies or issuance of certificates (with postponed ceremonies) should be implemented to continue educational progression.

“In similar context, consideration will be given to suspending the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp Exercises for at least 24 months while allowing deployment to places of primary assignment.

“This will ensure that there is no backlog in the National Service placement pipeline.”
