
Chelsea sensationally outclassed Manchester United in the second FA cup semifinal with the match ending 3-1 in favour of the West London side to set up a London derby final against Arsenal. Goals from Giroud, Mount and a Maguire own goal effectively sealed the Manchester side’s fate.
The first half was a cagey affair filled with seemingly endless stoppages due to injuries to Eric Bailey and Harry Maguire (the latter carried on while heavily bandaged while the former was stretchered off). The first half sparked to life at the end of the half through a well-taken goal from Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, a deft tap-in from a precise Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross to give the Londoners the much-needed edge in the match.
The second half began and a match talking point immediately presented itself from a David De Gea howler (the latest in his increasing goalkeeping collection) after the Spanish international failed to parry a tame shot from Chelsea’s English youngster Mason amount to take the scoreline to 2-0 in favour of the London side.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer immediately brought on talismanic midfielder Paul Pogba for Fred to sway the midfield dominance in their Favour to no avail with Chelsea still ascertaining their ascendancy and further increasing their lead through a Rudiger- enforces Maguire own goal to take the scoreline to 3 -0.
Bruno Fernandes pulled one back for the Manchester side via an Anthony Martial won a penalty, but it was too little – too late and the London side effectively set up a juicy London derby Fa cup final against rivals Arsenal.
