The new Tottenham stadium played host to the second game of Matchday 30 in the Premier League two days after football action resumed in England.

In an action-packed game, with two managers Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jose Mourinho going head to head, it was all to play for in a test of dominance, class and technical ability.

Mourinho had a big boost going into the game with the return of Harry Kane and Heung Son Min.

Both managers resorted to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Ole playing Martial up front, through the middle for United and Rashford on the left.

Pre-match rituals were observed – a minute’s applause for COVID-19 victims and health workers for their dedication as well as the action of #BlackLivesMatters.

The first 20 minutes of the game saw the visitors dominate with no shot on target between the two sides.

Rashford power shot at goal in the 21st minute almost saw the Old Trafford lads take the lead but Hugo Lloris was well-positioned for a good save.

The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute when Steven Bergwijn beat the duo of Manchesters’ Maguire and Lindelof, sending in a long-range shot at goal bringing the scoreline to 1-0.

The goal seemed to be the game-changer as four minutes on, Spurs’ Son got another chance to double the lead for his side, ably assisted by Steven Bergwijn but goalkeeper De Gea saved as the match ended 1-0 at halftime.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s introduction of Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood in the 62nd minute of the game brought pace and a raise in the team’s urgency which was evident in his partnership with Bruno upfront.

Manchester United’s equaliser could have come earlier in the game as Anthony Martial made an impressive shot from around the area but Lloris once again did not disappoint at putting a stop to the forward’s effort at goal.

The introduction of Ighalo in Martial’s stead didn’t make much impact barely 12 minutes to stoppage time as Manchester United craved for an equaliser.

Nine minutes to full-time, Paul Pogba’s fine run from the right into the area was a big trap for Spurs, Eric Dier, to foul him, gifting the visitors a penalty.

Bruno Fernandes who till date has not missed a penalty since the 2017/2018 season converted from the spot for Manchester United with the scoreline becoming 1-1.

Five minutes of additional time saw the Video Assistant Referee being brought into use as Dier once again was contesting for the ball in the area with Bruno Fernandes but VAR overruled the call for a penalty.

Last-minute attempts by Mason Greenwood and Fernandes were of no use as both teams went home with one point each.
