Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress Simisola “Simi” Ogunleye has given her new born baby an Yoruba name after many thought she would name her otherwise.

The husband of Simi, Adeleke Gold officially announced the arrival of their baby earlier today with a photo of himself and the baby on Instagram. Many people flooded his page with congratulatory messages and also suggested names that should be given to the first daughter.

After sharing the first photo of their first fruit, Simi named her daughter Adejare. Simi sharing her joy wrote “Deja my baby girl, I got you. I promise. Now and forever, so help me God…”.

The meaning of the Yoruba name “Adejare” means the crown is justified or the crown has overcome. The name also connotes the Sovereignty of Royalty.
